AUSTIN (KXAN) — Attorney General Ken Paxton is in Cleveland, Ohio where the Republican National Convention is taking place.

He joins us on the phone for an interview breaking down the convention and what to expect.

Donald Trump has named Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate. “What I like about him is that he has executive experience. He did a good job as governor of Indiana, he’s also he did a great job in Congress,” said Paxton. “He knows his way around Washington.”

Paxton believes seeing Trump and Pence together at the convention will inspire a vote of confidence nationwide. “I think right now we’re moving forward and I think people are excited about it,” said Paxton.

“You never know when you’ve got thousands and thousands of people in any location what’s actually going to happen because everybody has different opinions about all kinds of issues,” said Paxton. “I think we’re going to see a very solid united effort coming out of the convention.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
