VIDEO: Former Olympic athlete survives 150 foot paragliding fall

Caught on camera: Paraglider falls - NBC News

Jupiter, Florida (WPTV) – Former Olympic athlete Damien Leroy is injured after falling from a paraglider Monday night.

The accident was caught on camera. Leroy, a professional kiteboarder, is now hospitalized.

He has several broken bones and underwent surgery, and is listed in good condition.

He jumped about 150-feet from the motorized paraglider before it crashed.

His friend thinks he survived because he knew when to jump due to his experience.

“If that’s gonna happen to somebody, he’s probably the only one who would be able to come out of that as minimally scathed as he has,” friend Jon Modica says.
