AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police say intoxication and speed appear to be factors in a crash into a Domino’s Pizza in West Austin on Sunday, July 10.

At around 6:40 a.m., James Cloudt was driving eastbound on Steck Avenue at a high rate of speed when he veered to the right across Mesa Drive, crashing into the concrete barriers of the Domino’s, according to Austin police.

Cloudt, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say an open alcoholic beverage was found in the car.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with additional information on the crash is asked to call the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8255.
