Pedestrian killed in Northeast Austin crash identified

Barry Alan Friedman, 40, pedestrian killed in Northeast Austin on Parmer Lane July 9

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A pedestrian was killed July 9 running across Parmer Lane, according to Austin police.

Barry Alan Friedman, 40, was hit by a Honda Civic driving eastbound on Parmer Lane at Harrisglenn Drive around 5:50 a.m. Police say he was not in the crosswalk when he was hit.

This stretch of Parmer Lane is known to drivers for having limited street lighting. Friedman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are still hoping to learn more and ask anyone with information to call the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512)974-8255.

This is the 34th fatal crash in Austin this year.
