AUSTIN (KXAN) — If you see smoke out of the Northwest on Tuesday, don’t be alarmed. Fire crews are setting a fire on purpose.

The prescribed burn is for Pace Bend Park. A burn was prescribed to help maintain the area and prevent future wild fires.

As long as the weather cooperates, the burn will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday. A total of 14 acres will be targeted by the burn to remove excess shrubs, reduce exotic species, and create diverse plant life.

Travis County Parks has partnered with the Lake Travis Fire Rescue, Pflugerville Fire Department, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, for the burn.

The park will remain open through the burn; it is located at 2805 Pace Bend Road North in Spicewood.
