AUSTIN (KXAN) — STAR Flight was called to help transport a man suffering from a heat-related illness in southwest Austin.

Rescuers arrived at the 4500 block of Travis County Circle. The Austin Fire Department, EMS, and STAR Flight assisted the person out of the greenbelt.

According to Austin/Travis County EMS, the person is now awake. The patient was discovered in an area along Sycamore creek. The man estimated to be in his 40s refused treatment after first-responders evaluated him.

Triple digit heat is possible in areas of Austin Wednesday, increasing the risk for heat exhaustion. Remember to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade when outdoors, and never leave pets or children unattended in hot cars.
