Man dies in crash with garbage truck on Hwy 290

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man died in a crash Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 290 East at Harris Branch Parkway.

The man, identified as Abraham Aguilar-Diaz, 25, ran a red light while driving southbound on Harris Branch Parkway, according to Austin police. He was hit by a city of Austin garbage truck in the eastbound 290 service road at around 3:17 p.m.

Aguilar-Diaz was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with CPR in progress, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash.
