NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — A motorcyclist who died Tuesday on I-35 in New Braunfels has been identified as Jerry Jackson, 68.
The Austinite was believed to be wearing a motorcycle half helmet during the crash, according to investigators. The incident began after a truck and New Braunfels Fire Department SUV collided at 11:20 a.m.
Minutes later, a Honda was traveling at high speeds towards the crash causing the driver to slam on the brakes and swerve into the shoulder lane. Jackson’s three-wheel Harly Davidson motorcycle crashed into the back of the Honda around 11:35 a.m.
He was thrown from his motorcycle during the crash sustaining life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV had non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Christus New Braunfels Hospital.
The motorcyclist was transported to the San Antonio Medical Center for treatment where he later died. His family has been notified of his death.
