AUSTIN (KXAN) — From Austin City Limits to Fun Fun Fun Fest, now Austinites have a new festival to enjoy some music under the sun.
The first Sound on Sound Fest (SOS Fest) lineup has been released. From Nov. 4 through 6, the festival will feature performances by Explosions in the Sky and Beach House, along with many more. There will also be comedy acts, panel sessions and camping sites available.
While the organizers of Sound on Sound Fest would not confirm whether or not this particular festival will replace Fun Fun Fun Fest, the weekend the inaugural event is being held is usually when FFF Fest is held at Auditorium Shores. Last year, Transmission Events with Fun Fun Fun Fest went back and forth with the city of Austin regarding space issues at Auditorium Shores, now called Vic Mathias Shores.
Transmission Events, which was started by Graham Walker, was recently sold this year. Walker in turn started a new music-booking company called Margin Walker Presents, which is the company tapped to handle this new music festival.
The SOS fest will be a far cry from downtown Austin. The new festival will take over Sherwood Forest Faire in McDade for the 3-day event. This event is the first time the 23-acre space will be hosting a live music festival. Attendees will also have the opportunity to camp overnight for a fee. Full shuttles services will be offered.
Three-day GA tickets will cost $169 plus tax and shipping. Additionally, three-day Treat Thy Self passes are also available for purchase for $445 plus tax and shipping, which entitles ticket-buyers to the utmost festival-going experience at Sound on Sound Fest.
