AUSTIN (KXAN) — An immigration rally was held at the Governor’s Mansion Thursday evening, after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked President Obama’s executive action on immigration.

More than a hundred people showed up to protest the decision.

“We shall not be moved, like a tree standing firm on the river, we shall not be moved,” those gathered sang in Spanish. The rally was put on by the Workers Defense Project.

Many Spanish-speaking families were there to share stories, saying they do work many Americans don’t want to do.

Organizers urged citizens to vote for candidates that will further their cause in November.
