Taking Apart Toys to Figure Out Their Functions

If your kiddos wonder how things work and you never knew quite how to explain the function behind their toys and electronics, Thinkery is providing answers through discovery. Alex Morrison is maker education coordinator. She visited us in the studio to show us how their Space 8 program teaches kids to explore everyday items to learn more about them. She demonstrated this as she led Amanda through taking apart a toy to see how it compares to a computer’s CPU tower. By tinkering with these items, we could see how they have similar components and how these function in the same way in both. Thinkery is located on Simond Avenue. Go to thinkeryaustin.org for more about all the fun stuff to do their as well as their cool events or call 512-469-6200.
