Man arrested for DWI with child passenger after police chase

AUSTIN (KXAN) — One adult was arrested and another detained by police after receiving a 911 call a 2-year-old child had been taken.

Police were notified around 2:55 a.m. Shortly after they found the car described in the call. The driver led officers on a chase between Stassney Lane and Ben White Boulevard with speeds up to 60 miles per hour.

The chase ended at 3:20 a.m. in Bastrop County at Hwy 71 and Berdoll Loop. One of the men in the car, David Olmos, was arrested for a DWI, evading arrest and a parole violation warrant.

The child is reportedly safe. Watch Command says one of the adults in the car is the child’s father.

It is unclear why the child was taken. We are working to get more details.
