Woman hides in bathroom while burglar breaks-in

PLFUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — Burglary suspect, Micah Farris, admitted to police he kicked in the door of a Pflugerville apartment June 13 and stole several items he said he knew he could sell.

The suspect told police, “It was easy and hardly took any effort.”

The apartment resident hid in the bathroom and called 911 as the 25-year-old burglary suspect stole an Xbox One, 12 Xbox games, 2 Samsung Tablets, and other Xbox accessories, according to the affidavit. Police arrived just after 8:30 a.m. and said they saw a man walking swiftly away from the complex with a backpack that appeared very full.

The suspect was stopped and identified as Farris, who has three outstanding burglary warrants. He was arrested for one of the warrants and taken to the Pflugerville Justice Center.

During a police interview, Farris admitted he chose the apartment at random. He said he first knocked on the door to see if anyone was home, when he didn’t hear anything he kicked the door open.

“It was easy and hardly took any effort,” Farris told police.

When officers informed Farris the resident was home the entire time he was there, he responded saying he was “stupid.” The affidavit states Farris then took officers to the apartment he stole the items from, which matched the one belonging to the 911 caller.

Police warn residents that the majority of burglaries are committed during the day.

Farris is being held on a $20,000 bond.
