AUSTIN (KXAN) — Just in time for potential triple digit temperatures this weekend, Lady Bird Lake will reopen for recreational use on Thursday at noon.

Most of Lake Austin was reopened on Wednesday, but the lake from the Tom Miller Dam to the southern end of Red Bud Isle remains closed due to floodgate operations.

The Austin Fire Department has also lifted all restrictions on when you can get on the lake, earlier this week it was only open during daylight hours. APD’s Lake Patrol will monitor lake conditions to keep swimmers and boaters safe.

Flood operations at Mansfield and Tom Miller dams continue, so people who are taking to the Austin waterways should still be mindful of swift water conditions.

The AFD would also like to remind people that swimming is not allowed any time in Lady Bird Lake and jumping from any bridge over the Colorado River is prohibited by law.
