HUTTO, Texas (KXAN) — A Hutto High School coach has been arrested and now faces charges for an improper relationship with a student.

Jake Fenske was booked into the Williamson County Jail Friday. He is accused of having a relationship with a student.

Hutto ISD said they are cooperating with the Hutto Police Department and awaiting clearance from Hutto PD to resume the district’s own investigation. Fenske has been placed on administrative leave.

“Hutto ISD places the safety and security of students as its highest priority,” the district’s statement said. “If any wrong doing is discovered, Hutto ISD will hold staff accountable to the fullest extent possible.”

According to the Hutto athletics website, Fenske is the team’s quarterback coach. The district says he was also a track coach and science teacher.

Some students who know him as coach say it’s hard to hear the allegations.

“He taught us a lot of things to get us better and what we need to do in a season,” said Cordell Oliver, a football player at Hutto High. “And he works out with us and everything, so to hear about this, it kills me.”

However, other students had a different take.

“Honestly it wasn’t a surprise, I’ve heard a few rumors,” said Jeremy Paz, a junior at Hutto High. “I was more worried about the girl. I don’t know who it was actually, but just what she’s going through right now.”

The 26 year old bonded out of jail on Friday after his arrest.

The school district says they have notified Child Protective Services and the State Board for Educator Certification.

Fenske taught at the school for two full years, according to district officials.
