Boil water order issued for some in Bastrop County

BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Some Bastrop County residents are without water service and others are being asked to boil their water before consuming it this morning.

The heavy rains and flooding have washed out several roads and broken water lines. As a result, Bastrop County WCID #2 customers should boil water until further notice.

The Bastrop County WCID #2 has issued a boil water notices for people served by the District. Please boil water until further notice. Currently there are several customers with no water.

Public Notice to Boil Water
Due the significant amount of rainfall overnight the District has had several washouts in the roads resulting in water line breaks, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water system Bastrop County WCID #2 PWS ID # 0110020 to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.
If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact the office or the Operations Manager, Tyler Walsh at 512-321-1688.
