ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — Residents are waking up in their own beds after they were evacuated from the Lone Oaks Apartments in Round Rock.

Last week’s rain washed away land at a construction site behind the building, leaving a 20 foot cliff. Management at the complex said two separate inspections showed the building is safe.

A soil stability test indicated residents could move back in to the complex. The apartment will continue to update tenants if anything changes as they work on repairs.

In a letter sent to residents, the Lone Oaks apartments said their engineer has deemed the building safe to reoccupy, however, he will continue to monitor the situation. Additional repairs still need to be made.

“Please know your convenience (as well as your well being) has been and will continue to be our first priority throughout the efforts,” said the complex.

Residents are encouraged to give receipts from their temporary relocation to the leasing office for a possible reimbursement.
