The district stretches from Abilene, through the Hill Country, and into southwest Austin.

Democrats in northeast Travis County chose Jeff Travillion as their nominee for county commissioner.

He defeated Arthur Sampson. Travillion will face Pat McCord in November.

Republicans in Bastrop County picked Maurice Cook over Matthew Henderson as their candidate for sheriff. Cook won by just 16 votes. He’ll face Democrat Mike Renck in November.

In Travis County, less than one percent of registered voters went to the polls in the Republican runoff. Democrats did not do much better, with 1.4 percent going to the polls.

Republican candidate for the State Railroad Commission Wayne Christian defeated Gary Gates. Only 5,838 people cast a vote in the race. Around 685,000 people are registered to vote in Travis County.
