Weekend construction works to fix problems on East 7th St.

Pleasant Valley Road and East 7th Street intersection under construction

AUSTIN (KXAN) — If you plan to drive around South Austin this weekend watch out for these closures, which might impact traffic.

East 7th Street and Pleasant Valley Road will be reduced to one lane in both directions. The closures are due to city repairs being made from Calles Street to the bridge, and from Govalle Street to Cepeda Branch Library.

Brick pavers will be replaced with stamped, colored concrete. The bricks were a part of the East 7th Street Improvement Project, which started causing problems when stones settled into the ground creating an uneven surface.

The Public Works Department said drivers should expect delays during heavy traffic times. The construction will continue into July.
