AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person was killed and two injured in a crash on Burleson Road Friday, May 6.

The crash happened at around 11:15 p.m. in the 3200 block of Burleson Road near Highway 71.

According to Austin police, the truck — for an unknown reason — left the roadway, hit a utility pole and crashed into a tree. The driver, Santos Felipe Garcia, 20, died at the scene, police say.

Austin-Travis County EMS says two men in their 30s were also injured and taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with potentially serious injuries.

The significant damage to the driver’s side door suggests excessive speed was a factor in the crash, police said. Toxicology results are pending to see if the driver was impaired.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-5576.
