AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Lower Colorado River Authority and Austin Energy have both opened floodgates due to heavy rain.

LCRA announced the opening at 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, which was caused by heavy inflows into Lake Austin. This is the first dam opening of the day in the Austin area. The LCRA closed the floodgates around 9 p.m. Sunday.

The LCRA does not expect any other gate operations at this time.

Austin Energy has opened two floodgates at Longhorn Dam and has crews on location to make adjustments.
