Flood warning issued for Onion Creek at Highway 183

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Onion Creek at Highway 183. The warning is from late Sunday night to late Monday night, or until the warning is cancelled.

Waters are expected to rise in Onion Creek to minor flood levels but there is no anticipated threat to homes at this time. At 7:20 p.m. Sunday, the creek was at 6.2 feet; flood stage is 17 feet.

The NWS says the creek is expected to rise above flood stage by midnight and continue to rise to near 21.6 feet by Monday morning. The river is expected to fall below flood stage by Tuesday afternoon. At 27 feet, major flooding impacts several neighborhoods along Onion Creek.

Public safety officials are continuing to monitor conditions.
