AUSTIN (KXAN) — While we normally hear of cats and dogs getting out of the yard during storms, the Austin Animal Center came across a slightly more unusual pet Wednesday morning. A passerby called into 311 to report a stray pig in South Austin.
When Animal Control officers tracked it down, they said it was friendly and came to them after they offered it treats. “It took two officers to pick up the hog and put it into the truck,” said Animal Protection Supervisor Mark Sloat.
The team at the Austin Animal Center posted on social media regarding a lost pet and within a few hours, someone responded stating they knew the pig’s owner. After coordinating with the owner, Hammy, was brought back home to its home.
“When the truck pulled up to the home, the pig was quiet and calm, but when it heard its owner’s voice, the pig got excited,” said Sloat.
As you can see from this photo, the two are happy to be reunited.
