Police say Dorsett was shot after he broke into a home in Dripping Springs. A mother of three was home at the time, and on the phone with 911.

Authorities say she shot Dorsett with a 44-magnum handgun in self-defense, when he wouldn’t leave. Dorsett was hit in the abdomen and airlifted to UMCB for treatment.

Dorsett’s father told us his son battled bi-polar disorder and was manic at the time of the home invasion.
