UNION COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) — A woman is under arrest for attempted murder in Union after deputies say she poured gasoline on her husband and set him on fire.

Lashawn Stevens Hardy, 44, faces that charge from the Union County Sheriff’s Office after the incident Saturday morning.

The victim said he was in the bed when he was set on fire. The husband showed up at Union Medical Center around 2:30 with second-degree burns to his neck and back, deputies say.

Deputies say he was taken to the Augusta Burn Center by helicopter.

When deputies went to Hardy’s home on Tinker Creek Road, they found a mattress and bed sheets burned, according to reports.

Hardy was arrested on an attempted murder charge, according to the Union County Detention Center website.

Hardy was denied bond and will have a bond hearing over the weekend, deputies say.
