AUSTIN (KXAN) — Starting April 4, residents in Travis County will have less time to update their car registration or pay their property taxes at tax offices.

Branch offices in Austin and Pflugerville will serve the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The county says shorter hours are necessary so employees can complete their paperwork within their eight hour shift.

The main tax office on Airport Boulevard will continue with their regular hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector said overtime has become a major problem for satellite tax offices in Travis County. The offices are so small there is not room to hire anyone else to keep the lines moving. The county said the best way to save time is to simply do as much as you can online.
