Driver critical after crash in New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) – Police said a crash on the Interstate 35 service road just after midnight sent three people to the hospital Sunday.

New Braunfels police said a Deawoo car heading southbound on the IH-35 frontage road ran a red light and collided into a Pontiac heading northbound on Reuckle Road at 12:09 a.m.

Medics took the 32-year-old driver of the Deawoo to San Antonio Military Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

A 31-year-old man riding in the Pontiac also went to the San Antonio Military Medical Center. Doctors there said he was stable.

The Pontiac’s driver, a 31-year-old woman went the hospital mostly as a precaution.

The crash is still under investigation.

The crash also damaged a supplementary traffic light on the sidewalk at the intersection. The intersection was closed for about three hours.
