NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — New Braunfels police have arrested 24-year-old San Marcos man, Chase Laird, accused of sexually assaulting a child.
A 14-year-old girl told police she engaged in sexual intercourse with Laird Feb. 18 after they met online. Investigating officers identified Laird as the suspect.
After a warrant was issued for Laird’s arrest March 22, he was taken into custody from his San Marcos home without resistance. Laird was booked into the Comal County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
According to Texas law, the sexual assault of child is a second degree felony. If Laird is convicted he faces two to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.
