WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — At the Teravista Golf Club in Round Rock dozens of people are rallying behind Shawn Dick, who beat Jana Duty 56% to 44%, to become the next Williamson County District Attorney.
Dick says his nearly 20 years of experience will help him lead the county. He was previously a prosecutor for Williamson County, and currently runs a private practice in Georgetown. Dick says his first order of business as DA, is to bring in the best staff.
“Our DA’s office has just had a lot of trouble over the years, and I think it’s time we restored some faith in our district attorney’s office and I think for our community, this is really important,” said Dick.
He’ll take his new seat in Williamson County in January of 2017, to allow Jana Duty to finish out her term.
Since there was no Democrat challenger, Dick does not have to face a challenger in the November election.
