Police: Motorcyclist was speeding moments before crash on FM 2222

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police are investigating a deadly crash involving a motorcycle and a car in West Austin . The crash happened around 9:45 a.m. in the 10100 block of Farm to Market 2222 at McNeil Drive.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office says the motorcyclist, Samuel Wakeman, 28, died after running into a car while going more than 100 mph. Initial information indicates a constable saw Wakeman speeding down FM 2222 and when he turned on his police lights and tried to catch up to him, Wakeman accelerated. The constable lost sight of him moments before the crash.

Approximately an hour before the fatal crash and just a few miles east on FM 2222, an unrelated crash involving a truck hauling gravel and several other vehicles blocked FM 2222 at Jester Bouelvard.
