Conference focuses on mental health of Austin African Americans

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The issue of mental health and drug abuse in the Austin African American community is the focus of a conference starting today.

Joining us in the KXAN studio to talk about the Central Texas African Family Support Conference is Louise Lynch. She is the provider network and authority officer at Integral Care.

Keynote speakers will focus on educating the community about access to health and wellness care in Austin. There will even be a “Ask the Doctor” panel, which will answer health questions.

Several aspects of mental health will be discussed. Speakers will cover topics like supporting children with diabetes and suicide prevention.

The conference is today and tomorrow at the Renaissance Austin Hotel.
