BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) — An entire single family house was destroyed in a fire this morning in Bastrop off Pershing Boulevard, according to the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management spokesman Mike Fisher.

The homeowner David Ford, said he was sitting outside drinking coffee when one of his dogs alerted him about the fire. There were four dogs in the home at the time of the fire; Ford said all four of them and a cat died.

The fire started around 9:00 a.m. in the LBA area. The total damage from the fire was $50,000 to the property and $25,000 in loss of contents.

Firefighters say it does not appear there was a fire alarm in the house.
