AUSTIN (KXAN) — A student group touting Sanders’ record has filed a lawsuit against Austin Community College.

They say the ACC campus police stopped them from passing out pamphlets about the presidential candidate.

On Monday, ACC and “Students 4 Bernie” worked out an agreement to streamline the process to allow students to gather and pass-out political materials.

One organizer said he hopes this process becomes permanent.

“Our goal as a student group is to have this become policy for all student groups. Not just Sanders supporters Clinton, not just Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, anybody should be allowed to do this,” said Andrew Hansen with Students 4 Bernie.

ACC says it supports and encourages its students and their right to free speech, but it also says these gatherings must not interfere or disrupt the educational process.

The lawsuit is still pending. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
