Lockout at several Pflugerville schools lifted

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — A police incident in a Pflugerville neighborhood forced several schools along the main corridor in Pflugerville to be placed on lockout.

A spokesperson for the Pflugerville Independent School District says Spring Hill Elementary, Pflugerville Middle, Pflugerville High, Timmerman Elementary and the PISD headquarters were all placed on lockout on Friday morning. During a lockout, students and staff continue the class day as normal but visitors are not allowed inside and all the students are brought inside in.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office says the situation they were investigating started as a robbery. Around 10 a.m., police say a driver picked up a hitchhiker and during the ride the hitchhiker robbed the driver. The victim then drove the car into a ditch on Spring Hill Lane as well as hitting another car. Because the suspect managed to get away, the nearby schools were placed on lockout as a precaution.
