AUSTIN (KXAN) — The lockdown at McNeil High School has been lifted. A spokesperson for the Round Rock Independent School District says the school in Northwest Austin was placed on lockdown just before 2 p.m. Thursday and was lifted just before 3 p.m.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says a parent called authorities after hearing from his child that another student heard something bad was going to happen at the school today. After an investigation, the district was able to clear the situation and determined the school was safe and secure.

The district is also reminding parents and students to immediately contact authorities if they hear any rumors or conversations regarding possible threats to the school or anyone at the school. “Students must also be aware of the significant consequences they face if involved in any such activity,” said in a district release.
