Tex-Mex restaurants showcased in February’s Austin Monthly

AUSTIN (KXAN) — When it comes to Tex-Mex restaurants, everyone has their favorite in Austin. Whether it’s Chuy’s or Trudy’s, or a hole in the wall joint, there’s nothing better than some chips and queso!

In honor of all things Tex-Mex, Austin Monthly’s February issue focuses on 15 places that live up to the Tex-Mex category. Tex-Mex. “The Ultimate Guide to Tex-Mex,” was prepared with input from Taco Journalism’s Jarod Neece and Mando Rayo, takes a look at the history of the cuisine, its 10 traditional dishes, the city’s 15 essential joints and more.

Austin Monthly will be throwing a Tex-Mex tasting event on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Four Hands Home on Woodward Street from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $35 and available on austinmonthly.com.

The magazine’s assistant editor Kimya Kavehkar joined KXAN News Today to talk about how she’s ready to receive the potential hate mail.
