LIBERTY HILL, Texas (KXAN) — “I have some more to tell you about it.”
That is what parents in Liberty Hill say they heard on their voicemail from a coach at Liberty Hill Junior High.
“I got to let you know,” said the coach on the voicemail. The parents claim to have learned later on, that another student hit their son as they got ready for track practice. They asked us not to reveal their identity in the hopes of sparing their son future harassment.
“I had asked my son to give me some information, the coach wasn’t even aware that my son had been struck twice in the face, he just didn’t follow-up with it,” claims the father.
The parents filed a complaint with the school. They say their son told them the coach left him and the other student alone in the locker room to “work it out.”
“Boys will be boys sort of an excuse [we’re getting] for violent behavior that is not being addressed in that school,” says the boy’s mother.
These parents say they’re also upset the coach didn’t report the incident to the assistant principal, who’s listed as the campus behavior coordinator in the student code of conduct.
“[The assistant principal] was notified only because my son went to get ice from the nurse, and the nurse notified him,” explains the mother.
The principal of Liberty Hill Junior High would not comment on details of this incident, but she says the school is conducting an investigation and parents of all students involved will be notified when it’s complete.
This family says they expect the school investigation to take about ten days. The Liberty Hill Police Department couldn’t give a timeline of how long their investigation will take.
