AUSTIN (KXAN) — February 1 is the deadline to register in time for the March 1 Primary Election in Texas.

Texas Secretary of State Carlos Cascos is encouraging all qualified Texans who aren’t already registered or who need to update their registrations to make the Feb. 1 deadline.

You can register to vote in several ways, including downloading a mail-in application from VoteTexas.gov. Applications must be postmarked Feb. 1 or earlier to meet the deadline. Eligible voters can also apply in person at the county voter registrar’s office.

Not sure if you’re registered or not? Find out at the Texas secretary of state’s website.

Texans do not select a party when registering. Qualified voters are free to vote in either the Republican or Democratic Primary, but not both, according to the secretary of state.

Early voting begins Feb. 16 and continues through Feb. 26. The deadline to request a ballot by mail is Feb. 19. A reminder: Photo ID is currently required for voting in person.
