NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — Police in New Braunfels are searching for vandals who have been involved in several car tipping cases in recent weeks. In the past 30 days, police say there have been a number of criminal mischief cases reported across the city. In the cases, the suspects are smashing car windows and windshields as well as breaking home windows.

Police believe the same suspects were caught on camera flipping over a Smart Car, belonging to a business, in the 200 block of Stone Gate on Dec. 27, 2015. The vehicle had approximately $2,500 worth of damage. Although the suspects were wearing shirts over their faces to conceal their identities, police hope the video will help them identify the suspects.

That same night, the suspects tried to tip a car in the 300 block of Stone Gate but was unsuccessful. On Dec. 29, there was another car tipping reported in the 2500 block of Dove Crossing Drive, which is in a different neighborhood.

In 2014, San Francisco saw a rash of Smart Cars vandalized. Other cities have also seen similar cases as well.

Anyone with information is asked to call New Braunfels Police or Comal County Crime Stoppers, which is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest and/or grand jury indictment. To remain anonymous and to collect the reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 830-620-TIPS (8477), leave a tip online at http://comalcrimestoppers.org/, or text a tip by texting “Comal” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).
