AUSTIN (KXAN) — After a week homage to David Bowie, the original Bowie Street sign is back at the corner of Bowie and Fifth Streets in downtown Austin.

Last week, the managing director of SXSW, Roland Swenson, and Wicked Signs owner, Jason Carter, confessed to putting up the David Bowie sign. The City of Austin decided to leave the sign up for one week before promptly removing it Tuesday morning.

Swenson and Carter retained attorneys because word of possible criminal charges started to surface. Swenson says he plans on filing a formal petition to permanently rename this section of Bowie Street.
