SAN ANTONIO (KXAN/AP) — Texas Christian University’s quarterback, Trevone Boykin, was arrested two days before he was set to play in the Alamo Bowl.

According to police, the incident began when someone recognized him at a San Antonio bar and began heckling him. Things started to get heated when Boykin became upset and started fighting outside of the River Walk bar.

Responding patrol officers said he ended up punching a bicycle cop. According to the San Antonio Police Chief, William McManus, it is unclear if Boykin meant to take a swing at the officer or if his punch was intended for someone else.

Boykin was taken to the Bexar County Jail; he has now been released on a bond.

Boykin is in San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl Game Saturday against the Oregon Ducks. The TCU coach, Gary Patterson, announced that he has suspended Boykins from the game.

Charges have been filed against Boykin for the felony assault of an officer. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
