CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) — Police finally have a suspect in a 2014 arson case where a man in a miniskirt started a fire inside a Cedar Park bank. According to an arrest affidavit, Kirill Belchenko, 28, confessed to starting a fire at the Lone Star Bank on May 4, 2014 along with several other possible arson cases.
In the bank fire, the suspect was seen on surveillance footage shooting the front door with a pellet gun. Once inside, the suspect poured liquid on the carpet and lit it on fire.
Belchenko was arrested earlier this month on a harassment charge; while in the Williamson County Jail he provided a written statement admitting to a series of arsons in Cedar Park, according to the affidavit.
Belchenko is charged with arson and his bail is set at $150,000.
Cedar Park Police say that the total damage from the bank fire, as well as four other suspicious fires in Cedar Park from February to May 2014, is $141,000.
