SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Due to increase in last minute registrations, FEMA has decided to keep the Disaster Recovery Center in Hays County open until Jan. 15, 2016.

The DRC at the Hays County Government Center, 712 S. Stagecoach Trail in San Marcos, will be open during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, for the holidays.

Victims can be eligible for grants for temporary housing, home repairs and other serious disaster-related needs, such as medical and dental expenses or funeral and burial costs. Low-interest disaster loans from SBA may be available to cover residential and business losses.

Residents and business owners who had storm damage can register for FEMA assistance online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800.621.3362 toll free until further notice.
