AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin woman was arrested after slapping another woman’s daughter in a Dollar General in October, according to an arrest affidavit.
Jennifer Lampkin, 33, has been charged with injury to a child, a third degree felony. According to an arrest affidavit, on Oct. 13 the child’s mother was shopping at a Dollar General when she said Jennifer butted her in the shoulder as they walked up to the checkout line. After the mother said “sorry,” the affidavit states Jennifer left the checkout line and headed towards the front of the store where the child was waiting for her mother.
As Jennifer walked out of the store, she slapped the child with such force that she almost fell over and began to cry and scream, the victim’s mother told police.
After Jennifer had been identified, Austin Police discovered she had called police earlier that day requesting psychiatric emergency services. When officers did not respond quickly enough for Jennifer, she threatened to throw someone into a trash can.
Officers found Jennifer after searching the area. She proceeded to admit to police that she had gotten into a verbal altercation at the Dollar General.
Video footage provided by the Dollar General showed Jennifer striking the victim as she left the store.
According to police records Jenifer had a history of similar incidents, including assaulting people waiting at a bus stop and assaulting a woman holding her child while walking down the street.
