CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) — The Department of Public Safety bomb squad shut down the FM 1431 and Parmer Lane intersection Thursday morning.

At around 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Cedar Park Police alerted the public to avoid the intersection, which was closed in every direction. Police initially said it was unclear if the device was an explosive, but just before 12:30 p.m. DPS said the device turned out to be a plastic covering for fireworks. The object looked like a grenade in the middle of the road, authorities say. The bomb squad’s robot went into the road and determined it was not a bomb.

The northbound lanes of Parmer Lane were reopened, followed by the entire intersection reopening around 11:45 a.m. Police warned that delays may continue.
