AUSTIN (KXAN) — Some Austin Police officers took time out of their day to deliver a little holiday cheer to children having the toughest time of their lives.

The “Blue Santa” program stopped by Dell Children’s Medical Center. While there, we met Zoe.

She met Assistant Chief Jessica Robledo, who left her with several gifts. Zoe said she didn’t ask Santa for anything. But Zoe’s mom, Sarah, says she got her Christmas wish.

“It’s definitely my Christmas dream, my Christmas wish was answered because I get to take this one home and she’s doing 100 percent better,” Sarah said.

Lt. Gena Curtis says, “To be able to see the expression on the childrens’ faces and to just bring some Christmas joy and spirit to them and their families is a tremendous opportunity for each of us.”

Zoe was discharged Thursday and will get to spend Christmas with her baby sister.

Four thousand people helped the Austin Police Department’s Blue Santa collect, pack and deliver packages filled with toys and food this year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
