KYLE, Texas (KXAN) – A pair of off-duty Kyle police officers were at the right place at the right time when the call came in for a suspected car burglary.
At 6:16 Saturday evening, two off-duty officers working at the EVO Entertainment located at 3200 Kyle Crossing heard dispatch call for a disturbance in the parking lot related to a burglary.
According to a police report, a woman arrived at her vehicle to find people rummaging around in it. When confronted, a male suspect returned items he had taken and offered the woman money not to call the police.
The officers found a car matching the suspects’ description in the EVO parking lot and Monica Lee Garcia, 21, and Frank Angel Ybarra, 28, were detained.
The officers found stolen items in their vehicle and when questioned, the pair admitted to burglarizing other vehicles in the parking lot.
“We encourage everyone to keep vehicle doors locked, whether at home or while out and about town,” Chief Jeff Barnett said. “It’s also best to not keep valuables in your vehicle, or at least put them out of sight.”
Both suspects are accused of three counts of Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. Ybarra’s charges were enhanced due to having two previous convictions of Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.
