AUSTIN (KXAN) — A garbage truck caused traffic headache for drivers along Interstate 35 in downtown Austin on Tuesday afternoon. Austin police says two northbound lanes of I-35 at 12th Street were blocked because a garbage truck managed to get stuck underneath the overpass.

A representative from the Texas Department of Transportation checked the overpass and determined the 12th Street bridge received only minor damage and all traffic is being allowed back on the bridges.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. The Austin Fire Department says the bed of the dump truck came up and got wedged underneath the bridge. No one was injured.

Emergency crews were able to cut away parts of the truck to release it from the bridge just after 5 p.m., and all lanes reopened just before 6 p.m.
