One local hospital is trying to make the experience a bit easier for everyone. Dell Children’s Medical Center is unveiling a new exam room at the Children’s Blood and Cancer Center.

It has a Hawaiian theme to help comfort the young patients and their families, but this is more than just an exam room. The inspiration comes from Jennifer Wilks. Jennifer was a young teenager with cancer who enjoyed her time in the sun and playing on the beach.

Since losing her battle with childhood cancer, her family established the Jennifer Wilks Foundation in her memory. Her father, Tim Wilks, stopped by KXAN to talk about the foundation and the impact it has on Central Texas families.
