CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) — Cedar Park police have arrested three people who they believe to be part of a national vehicle burglary ring, known as the Felony Lane Gang.
A tip was called into Cedar Park police Dec. 1, after a woman said she noticed a suspicious vehicle in Champion Park. The victim told police that she didn’t even realize she had been targeted by the group until she saw them flee.
Using the tip, police were able to locate the “gang” in the parking lot of a YMCA. Smelling marijuana coming from the car, police were able to conduct a search of the vehicle, finding several items that had been stolen from the park that morning. Additionally, according to the press release, “criminal instruments” they used to break into car, were also found in the vehicle.
The Felony Lane Gang is believed to have ties in over 40 states across the nation. According to police, the gang breaks into cars at parks or fitness centers, stealing purses and other valuables.
Cedar Park Police ask the community to keep their valuables at home, and hide anything in cars that could be stolen.
